day two hundred and fifty four, rgb slate

alright. i know i've been really hard on my gunmetal colours and i don't really have a good reason but this one is AMAZING. i don't have a bad word to say! but i'm not really surprised coming from RGB, they're beyond fantastic and worth every penny (speaking of pennies...i spent all mine on a huge rescue beauty lounge order, i might have justified spending $200 to qualify for free shipping. suffice to say i think i own every RBL i'm even remotely interested in [in additions to the ones i already own]!!!).

ANYWAY, this is a fantastic grey/black/silver colour jam packed with microglitter and shimmer to an extreme. i couldn't begin to capture it's awesome-ness on film so i shot a video with my loo fan as background music. it is silly but it is worth a view to see just how captivating this polish really is!

this is 3 coats, i only needed two...well, technically i needed 3 because i kept unintentionally smudging the second coat!

my hinted dailypolish changes are so close to completion i can almost taste it! there will, of course, be a celebratory giveaway so stay tuned!!!

day two hundred and twenty six, rgb cognac

alright, i want to say that i have every intention of swatching diamond cosmetics and ginger + liz polishes to show (or not show) the similarities. i had hoped to do it tonight, i had a work dinner but i thought it was going to be lame and terrible and i'd be home super early but it was actually really lovely and it gave me a chance to get to know my colleagues! so i just got home and i'm throwing this post up as fast as possible so i can go to sleep. i will say that if anyone ever wants to see something in particular i'll happily do my best to oblige your requests, my budget is limited so i can't really go buy a ton of stuff but i like to think i have a lot of polish and if there's something you haven't seen that you really want to..give me a shout! but yes, expect the ginger + liz vs diamond cosmetics (and the tough luxe vs grenade vs never so evergreen) swatches up before sunday. i promise! i'm just too busy on my working days, ack!

ANYWAY! onto today! another amazing polish from rgb. i'm still iffy on brown polishes but this one was so pretty and different that i convinced myself to go out of my comfort zone and wear it. it's called cognac...it's not the worst cognac tribute i've seen, that's for sure! another thing about rgb is they (like ginger + liz, like rescue beauty lounge...) are one coat polishes. and they are SO SHINY! this is sans topcoat (although i did put one on afterwards...i just wanted to show how pretty it is on its own!). i must say...i'm impressed!

day two hundred and four, rgb steel

here's another from RGB. i am really liking this brand, their pigmentation and shininess is amazing. they're 1 coat colours and sooooo shiny. this is steel...it's a really nice blue grey but i must admit i need to pull out my bottle of RBL Stormy because they look really similar in pictures...but either way, if you don't own one (or even if you do!) it's still worth buying this colour because it's so pretty!

i've been wreaking havoc on my cuticles recently so they look awful!! i'm trying to let them heal but it's bothersome !

day one hundred and seventy eight, rbg haze

firstly...to my 3 giveaway winners: i apologise but i haven't sent your polishes yet, i've been incredibly busy but i promise to send them ASAP!!!

okay, this is hopefully the second and final time i'll use a stock photo but it was 100% necessary! this AMAZING polish by rgb (the same ones who created 'buff') is called haze and it is described as a smoky violet but to me...it's so much more than that. it's a mushroomy, taupe that has purple leanings. i tried every light i could think of to get the purple to show up in a photo (the way i could see it obviously on my nails) but i just couldn't manage it! i did manage to grab the taupe and mushroomy grey elements...but there is an obvious purple tint that you can see when you look at it on your nails but it just refused to be seen on camera. it's really intriguing, such an interesting spin on the mushroom/taupe/grey family and it works so well!

unlike buff i had zero application problems. creamy, thick...gorgeous. 3 coats (as always) but i could've gotten away with 2. if i wasn't such a rubbish 1st coater i probably could've gotten away with 1 really good coat...but either way, LOVE!

day one hundred and sixty eight, rgb buff

today is the LAST DAY TO ENTER giveaway where you can win TEN bottles of nail polish!!! (winner is announced in tomorrow's post)

RGB cosmetics are a new brand, i only heard about them 5ish months ago, their polishes are only available in the USA, i don't know if they are stocked in stores but you can buy from their website or other etailers (i personally used a site called...blackbird...or bluebird, i can't recall, because the rgb site was sold out of one colour i wanted to try) and they cost $14 each for .40oz/12mL. they are big 3 free

this is a tough one because there are some really good and really bad things about this polish...i'll start with the good!

the goods: i loved the colour, not quite a perfect mannequin hands shade but a really cool milky, ecru kind of colour. think cafe au lait (which is 1/2 coffee, 1/2 steamed milk..thank you starbucks for teaching me the ins and outs of coffee even thought you were lame employers in the UK) type colour. just orignal, unique...totally getting lots of points on innovative colours! i also liked the application, the consistency of the polish was really nice. the bottle lid is very short so you can have a lot of control over how you are applying the polish

the bads: opacity. this is probably a polish that is meant to be sheer and worn sheer...but you guys know I HATE THAT. so i was determined to get to full opacity...but it took me about 12 coats. the only good thing is that it didn't look like 12 coats. i wish there was a way to increase opacity in a finished polish!!!! also...i was using THICK coats to try and improve opacity...but it didn't help. it is important to say that i was waiting between coats for it to dry (well, about a minute or two) between coats and even so...all the layers made it incredibly hard to handle, tough to dry and incredibly delicate. i was trying to remove nail polish from around my cuticles and the nail polish sort of tore off. it didn't chip...it kind of fell away because it never completely hardened and dried despite an effective quick-dry topcoat AND quick-dry drops.

all in all...i don't know. i really love the colour but i hate the effort it took to achieve. i have 5 or 6 other RGB polishes to try and none of them are this tricky type of colour, they were meant to be opaque and hopefully they will be!
