day one hundred and seventy six, misa dying love

a moment of silence...we have reached the end of my misa collection! soooo sad! :( i'll definitely buy more...just not right now! i've done super well on my no polish purchase february that i am going to try and extend it into march, my 'to be swatched' pile is huge (well it never goes down because i keep buying more polish)! i've even participated in my first two swaps ever, so i'll have some new polish to show that i only spend cost of shipping on. exciting!

anyway, onto misa! 'dying love' is another one of those pretty gunmetal shimmery silver/grey colours. i feel like i need a break from these kinds of colours as i'm getting a bit 'meh' about them. they all seem to be the same! but like all misa polishes, fantastic application and opacity...i definitely will have to make a list of more misa to acquire!

day one hundred and seventy one, misa love bite

hmm. here's a vamp from misa called 'love bite'. it's nice....very dark....i don't really have much to say about this. all these vamp cremes are kind of identical. nice formula, nice application....yep!

day one hundred and fifty five, misa moody model

firstly, don't forget to enter my giveaway where you can win TEN bottles of nail polish!!!

here's another ridiculously gorgeous polish from the people at misa. i love them. i've only been disappointed once or twice ever in their colours. this one, moody model is a toffee/chocolatey brown colour. it applied great (like all misa polishes) and has a great warmth to it...i feel like i've been on brown overload lately, but it is just so great that i can't stop posting about it!

day one hundred and twenty six, misa bojangles

i must admit that this colour took me by surprise. you all know i am pretty lukewarm in emotions when it comes to pink and so i figured this would be another pink...ho hum...nothing exciting. i am happy to say i was pleasantly surprised!!! but it's misa and they are fabulous...i should know to expect greatness by now!!

bojangles is not your ordinary pink. it's kind of a golden/tan/pink combination depending on which angle you look at it (and under which lighting conditions!). it's very soft, warm...inviting and flattering to my skintone. it has a definite golden shimmer that adds something special to this polish. it gets added to the imaginary 'interview/work appropriate' pile (it only exists in my head so i call it imaginary. polishes don't actually get sorted in any way...they just live on my dining room table!). i bought this one on ebay i believe and it's a definite surprise!

day one hundred and fifteen, misa on the edge

here is one that restores my faith in misa. i love misa! on the edge is an awesome deep blue colour that is totally different from china glaze 'bermuda breakaway' so you can easily justify owning both!!! i had trouble capturing on film the differences....but misa is definitely a lighter dark blue. it never looks black, it's very vibrant without being a neon...this makes me happy beacuse it reminds me how much i love misa and why they are so fabulous!

day ninety five, misa rust

50 followers!!! how exciting! and steve (boyfriend) said no one would read my blog because i don't use proper capitalisation. take that! (yeah. i don't use lowercase for stylistic reasons...more because i'm lazy and don't need to capitalise!)

alright. this is kind of sad, this is the second misa polish in a row i haven't been fanatically crazy about. but i guess that's fair because i've been soooo happy with the rest. this is also another case of weird polish names. this one is called rust...and it doesn't remind me of rust in the least!!! it's a champagne-y frost polish. i don't own many frost finish polishes, i find them to be annoying for the most part. most frost finish polishes show really obvious brushstrokes and tend to veer on the delicate side. and for someone as accident prone and all over the place as me...we (frosts and me!) just don't get along. so...yeah. this is fine. not amazing or spectacular. it's not awful, i don't hate it...i'm just...okay with it. it can be my acquaintance polish. but not my best friend?

i do have some polish winging its way towards me from the united states that is a good layering polish and if i were to use anything under it...frosts definitely come to mind. it would hide the brushstrokes and make colours like this more exciting and interesting!

(ps - you might have noticed my nails are short again...one broke so i made them all short and i'm trying to get them back to their former length now. takes about 2 weeks to get [what i consider] long nails)

day ninety three, nailene nail guides, opi rent, misa forbidden lust

okay. we're (i'm) oing to call this my hattrick post because it's 3 different products used at the same time...which is incredibly rare for me! this is going to be a really chatty post as i go through step-by-step how i did this and why i chose these products. if you aren't interested you can just skip to the pictures as they are pretty self-explanatory.

i follow a LOT of nail blogs and some are about people doing nail art...and they're incredibly talented and i wanted to try and do some cool coloured french tips like i see on them. the lovely people at nailene sent me nail guide stickers for french tips and i set to work!

let me state first and foremost...that i am TERRIBLE at nail guide placements. absolutely horrendous. it's shameful how bad i am. but i never do it so i have no experience. i started with my left hand (since i'm a righty), placed the guides and made sure i wrapped them as far around my finger as they would go (it makes a difference!) and put 2 thin coats of misa 'forbidden lust' as my coloured tips. you can't really get away with more than 2 coats. then you need to wait for it to dry (also make sure the guide is pressed on as tight as possible so no polish leaks under the sticker)

when removing the guides it is REALLY important to not pull up toward the polish or you will mess up your tip line and possibly pull off some polish. now i put the guides..way too far down on my left hand (and if i had more skill i would've used nail polish remover and a q-tip to make it less thick..but just getting this far was tough enough!).

i did a better job on my right hand because i knew i put the guides too low...but here they are a little too high on some nails (basically i just need to keep doing this until it becomes easy to see where to place them. however, it is hard for me because i have really shaky hands so getting the stickers on evenly was a big effort)...so i need to try again another time to put the guides where they belong.

i didn't want to just leave the coloured tips and put a topcoat on...i wanted something more. so i used 'rent' by opi (from the collection featuring la boheme). this is a pretty useless polish unless used like i did here. it's supposed to be some sort of pale colour with glitter but really it's mostly clear with very faint shimmer. so the fact that it is a boring...nothing colour and has very subtle shimmer worked in my favour. it added some depth and prettiness to the whole nail and gave off a glow for the part of the nail not tipped.

anyway...i really liked how this looked even though i know the tip placements weren't spectacular. i just have to keep trying i guess!! i promise i won't chat this much for awhile :D

day sixty nine, misa toxic seduction

another stunner from misa! this doesn't look quite accurate, it's a beautiful green with green microglitter. it's been so grey all day that i had to just use a lamp to try and get something from the colour.

day sixty five, misa heartbreak

here's one to restore my faith in misa. after my disappointing with burnished bronze heartbreak knocks it right out of the park. it's a beautiful...grey/taupe colour with a lavendar flash to it. absolutely stunning!!! i am so pleased with this colour. it's a neutral but really interesting at the same time

day sixty, misa burnished bronze

i am sad to write this,...this is the first time i'm not going to rave about misa! the polish is beautiful but not what i expected. a polish called burnished bronze makes me think of the colour bronze...not an orange/pink duochrome. there's nothing wrong with orange/pink duochromes but i was looking forward to an actual bronze hued polish! so...if we set aside my disappointment the polish is beautiful. orange with a pink duochrome flash and chock full of shimmer. very pretty...just...not what i wanted or expected.
